Focus of this year's Stynes Address

In her Stynes Address, Bronwyn will share her observations on key points of regulatory failure and reform and its interface with the legal profession. She will discuss how the emergence of design and construct contracting has shaped the construction industry, the role of lawyers in disputes involving strata buildings, the impact of insurance and the influence of building consultants. She will explore the politics of building regulation and the influence of governments. Not just as regulators but as the largest purchasers of building and construction services in Australia and as economic influencers through stimulus funding, housing supply policy and through responses to the impacts of climate change.

Bronwyn will touch on building regulation approaches around the world and share her perspectives on what the future holds for the regulation of the building and construction industry as global markets, digitisation and sustainability become more influential in the delivery, maintenance and upgrades of the buildings in which we work live and play.
