Taming Goliath: Effective Case Management in Large-Scale Construction Litigation

Presented by The Hon. Justice Michael Lundberg (Supreme Court of WA) Patricia Cahill SC (Senior Counsel). Chaired by Douglas Johnson, Barrister, Francis Burt Chambers.

Registration for this event has now closed

Construction litigation enjoys the unenviable reputation for being an expensive, highly complex, and time-consuming affair. Large construction cases (many of which can involve hundreds of millions of dollars at stake) often become epic sagas in their own right which take years to move through the courts. Not only do these cases tend to give rise to a litany of interlocutory disputes along the way, but ultimately, they require months of time in trial before reaching a determination.

In this seminar, our speakers will discuss the challenges that arise for parties and the Court in managing large scale construction cases. They will share insights into the Court’s expectations of litigants and their lawyers involved in such disputes, and offer practical guidance for avoiding the common problems that arise.

The event will formally commence at 5:30 pm AWST. There will be time for questions at the conclusion of the discussion, followed by networking drinks.
