If you are interested in becoming a member, you will need to pay the membership fee to 31 August in advance. This will be refunded in full in the unlikely event that your application is rejected.

Please note our online payment system can only accept Visa or MasterCard (not American Express).  Credit card payments cannot be accepted by telephone.

What are the member benefits?

Depending on your membership class there are different member benefits. Please click here to view the table of membership benefits.

How much does it cost to be a member?

New memberships are charged per quarter on a pro-rata basis with the membership year ending on August 31st.

From 21 July 2022 the full year prices (inc GST) are:

  • Individual ($286)
  • Corporate Individual ($143)
  • Student ($88)
  • Corporate Subscriber fee ($704)

Corporate Individual membership is only available to employees of current Corporate Subscribers

Our student membership is available to undergraduate and graduate students, both full and part time.

Financial members who renew their membership between 1 August and 31 October are eligible for a discounted fee as follows:

  • Individual ($257.40)
  • Corporate Individual ($128.70)
  • Student ($79.20)
  • Corporate Subscriber fee ($633.60)


Pro rata rates for each part of the membership year are as follows:

First quarter 1 Sept – 30 Nov Full year fee
Second quarter 1 Dec – 29 Feb 75% of the full year fee
Third quarter 1 March – 31 May 50% of the full year fee
Fourth quarter 1 June – 31 July 25% of the full year fee
  1 - 31 August Full year fee  
(membership to 31 August of the next year)

Am I eligible to join?

Yes, if you are interested and professionally involved in construction law. Members come from all sectors of the construction industry, for example, architects, engineers, surveyors, contractors, developers, solicitors, barristers, arbitrators and experts.

Can I participate in the activities of SoCLA before joining?

You are welcome to attend events and participate in other open events before deciding to join SoCLA – this is a great way to get insight into what we do and who we are before you decide to sign up.

The Society has a policy to assist members who may be facing a temporary difficulty in paying all or some of the membership fee.  The policy can be viewed here.
