The Society of Construction Law Australia was launched across the country in May & June of 2009. Its objects are stated in the Constitution as being

'… to promote the education, study and research (and publication of the useful results of such research) in the field of construction law and related subjects both in Australia and overseas for the benefit of the public and the construction industry.'

The inspiration for its formation was the growing recognition of how the law as it applies across the construction industry has developed and the inclination to enjoy the professional and social interaction which such an organisation will permit. The Society aims to continue the development across the country of an interactive, cross disciplinary construction community working together for the improvement of all aspects of construction law.

This website will be the primary organ of the Society and it is intended to develop written and electronic resources for our members including e-membership of SCL UK. There will be neither a bureaucracy nor separate branches, merely a national organisation run by its members. A committee structure has been established which draws on participants in all States and will communicate with the membership by regular updates and reports on the website or via email. Plans are afoot for publications, events, academic endeavour and an annual conference. More news will be posted about all these plans in due course.

We welcome you to the Society and we look forward to your participation in and enjoyment of the Society’s activities.
