Thursday 21 May 2020

The Queensland Economics and Governance Committee  is inviting written submissions from all interested parties on any aspect of the Queensland Government’s economic response to COVID-19, as informed by the inquiry terms of reference (please see inquiry webpage for more information).

The deadline for making a submission as part of this initial submissions process is 5.00pm on Tuesday, 30 June 2020.

Public briefing

On Thursday, 7 May 2020, the committee held a public briefing for its inquiry (via video conference) with representatives of the Queensland Treasury and the Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning. The two departments also provided the committee with a written briefing on the current economic outlook and key challenges for the Queensland economy (including sectoral impacts), key aspects of the Queensland Government’s economic response to COVID-19 (and their interaction with Australian Government initiatives), and other relevant inquiry matters.

The broadcast of the public briefing can be accessed on Parliament TV*, and the transcript of the public briefing will be published in due course.

The committee will be announcing further public proceedings for the inquiry in the near future.

*Note – archived broadcasts of all published committee proceedings remain accessible on Parliament TV for 12 months after their live broadcast.*
